Michael Martin "Mike" Baxter is the main protagonist of Last Man Standing. He is portrayed by American actor and comedian Tim Allen and first appeared in the series' pilot episode.

Mike Baxter, the main protagonist of the show, is a father of three daughters, husband of Vanessa Baxter, and the director of marketing for Outdoor Man, a store that sells sporting and hunting goods. He is a so-called "manly-man," and he believes in old-fashioned values. He is also a very strong conservative and despises all liberals.

Mike is also an Amateur Radio operator with the fictitious call sign of KA0XTT. KA0XTT is licensed to the show as an experimental station, University of Michigan. He also enjoys spending quality time with his grandson Boyd Baxter, the only other boy in his family. He likes hunting, fishing, sports, and (most of the time) his family.

He is the husband of Vanessa. He is the father of three girls: Kristin, Mandy, and Eve, and is also the grandfather of Boyd. He often clashes with his son in law, Ryan, and dislikes how men have become so sensitive.

  • He and Vanessa are the only characters to appear in every episode of the series.
  • He was described by Vanessa as a hippy campaigning for McGovern when she met him.
